Wright House of Fashion is Iowa City’s first fashion house dedicated to using design as a tool for justice, empowerment, and systemic change. Rooted in collaboration with the fashion design community, we center youth as leaders, creators, and change-makers—equipping them with the skills, confidence, and agency to shape their futures and challenge the systems that limit access and opportunity.

Through fashion, design, and sustainable practices, Wright House advances equity, environmental responsibility, and economic mobility. We use creative expression not as an end point, but as a catalyst—building leadership, teamwork, and civic engagement while confronting the cultural, social, and environmental issues embedded within creative industries.

Our mission is to empower diverse and historically excluded populations with the tools, knowledge, and platforms to reimagine what is possible. By developing conscious creators and critical thinkers, Wright House fosters a new generation prepared to contribute meaningfully to their schools, communities, and the world—using creativity as a force for accountability, resilience, and collective transformation.

We stand at the intersection of design, justice, and economic access—redefining what design education can be. This is more than a learning space or creative studio; it is a community-powered engine for equity, workforce access, and narrative change.

Through graphic and fashion design, we use creativity as a tool for activism—challenging systems, elevating underrepresented voices, and building pathways into creative careers that have historically been closed off. Our student designers don’t just learn theory; they engage in real projects, collaborate with organizations and brands, and create merchandise that carries meaning, purpose, and impact.

Every design is an act of resistance. Every project is an opportunity to reclaim storytelling, generate economic mobility, and prove that creative work can move culture and systems at the same time. Here, design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about agency, sustainability, and shaping a future where creativity is a driver of justice and opportunity.
